Our collective Poste Aérienne will exhibit on the artist bookfair Feuilles d’Art in Brussels this weekend - independent illustration, silkscreen prints and fresh little books:

Saturday and sunday - 15th-16h march
10h30 to 18h - See you there!

Some years ago Poste Aérienne started their first activities with the presentation of several handmade unique artist's books at the Frankfurt Book Fair.

Artist's books got their very own tradition in the history of art and bookmaking. They are actually more an artist's statement, manifestation of a personal artistic position and exploration than a regular book publication.

Now you can find various handmade books by our group members, in different forms and sizes, on our new publication site. Impressive examples of experimental and conceptual book-design.

Hello there, a little more than two weeks ago I started a daily drawing project. It is very similar to a graphic journal, lots of the images are inspired by current or past experiences, images that strike me somehow in daily life, or fictional events.

On tumblr you can follow the full project:

Just three "H & G" graphics with limering emotions to the last
Brothers Grimm Year 2013.  -

  But now welcome to 2014!

I wish you all a very successful and joyful new year with plenty of time for precious moments
of drawing and encounters...

NOUVEAU CATALOGUE (électronique)

Our artist collective Poste Aérienne is now active for seven years.

At this celebration, we set up a new website with full catalogue of our print publications. It presents our main projects like the silkscreen Accordion Books or the Mikrokosmos Box, as well as all single books in varied shapes and sizes.

Artist Books coming soon!

It has been a time of rich cooperations with a lot of German and international independent illustrators. We've had the opportunity to work with numerous excellent bookshops and galleries in Belgium, Germany, Spain, Italy and the States - like Ivory Press Books / Supalife Kiosk / Last Gasp.

Poste Aérienne got to know great contemporary publishers like Media Vaca, lovely book and zine festivals like Grafixx, and of course - which is always a big pleasure - a lot of charming readers.

Hot off the press and now available in all book stores is a highly recommended book with hundreds of – birds. To be honest we should recite the book's complete title "Illustration – 100 Wege einen Vogel zu malen/100 ways to paint a bird". Because that leads to its real topic which is actually "Illustration".

On more than 330 pages author (and artist) Felix Scheinberger writes about our profession and passion, taking a look at art history and discussing the future possibilities of drawing and illustration.

The book is fully illustrated (only birds!) by more than 100 illustrators from all over the world. Poste Aérienne artists also take part of this fine publication.

"Illustration – 100 Wege einen Vogel zum malen" by Felix Scheinberger, is published by Verlag Hermann Schmidt, Mainz.

Grafixx Zine Fest 2013

Grafixx zine fest 2013 (Antwerp) had extended compared to last year! More lectures, expositions, zine and silkscreen ateliers, life sketch, zine shop and more… Poste Aérienne got again the opportunity to sell it's publications. Headliners for me was a lecture of Ward Zwart and exposition of Benoit Guillaume.

Cheers, Leen

We had the nice idea to reprint our first (and now sold out) silkscreen poster/accordion-book "Seven Reasons Not To Travel" in a second edition – together with our current silkscreen-project "Why Are We Sleeping?". Here are some fast snapshots from the printing.

We chose new, fresh colors...

… and worked again with our favorite silkscreen-printer Olli Nerlich (Berlin, Neukoelln).

Accordion Book and Poster are now available!

Out now is a new silkscreen accordion book by Poste Aérienne titled "Why Are We Sleeping?"

Thanks a lot to all participating Pilots of Poste Aérienne – Leen Van Hulst, Frederik Jurk, C.Pom, Adrian Wylezol, Cleo Schwinkowski, Ib Jorn, Boris Servais – and to our new Pilote d'Essai – Nadine Kolodziey.

This lovely three-color book (edited by Dieter Jüdt) is dedicated to the lunatic singer-songwriter Kevin Ayers.

I've always liked this special existential melancholy in his music, his sense for harmonic nonsense and catchy refrains, his balancing between a friendly surrealism and sometimes dark expressionism. Not to forget his distorted bass guitar playing!

- Dieter

"Monsters are real, and ghosts are real too. They live inside us, and sometimes, they win."  This quote expresses quite well what this publication is about: experiencing our inner forces - the forces that are hard to deal with - like our fears, our arrogance, our aggressions, or even hatred.

If monsters live inside us, are they part of us?
And if they are, is there a way to fight them?
Or is there a way to turn their threatening company into a friendly, helpful presence?

This card set is first of all a graphic series: a humorous reflection of the many shapes that monsters have taken over thousands of years.  The publication contains a leaflet with a comment about the psychological aspect of meeting our monsters.
Printed on fine conqueror paper, this box can serve as a gift for friends of strange and individual illustration, or as a set of elegant postcards.

LUCANUS - nonacademic

Three graphics created in this summer, when nature
with its insects and sweet herbs or rank weeds was still alive.

2013 the Frankfurt Book Fair was once again an extraordinary
event for Poste Aérienne. We met many, many charming guests
and visitors – magazine and book editors – friends of Art and
Book Illustration all around.

We enjoyed the time in Frankfurt very much and it would be a
pleasure to meet you again in 2014.

Nadine Kolodziey

Since a few months now, Poste Aérienne has a new "Pilote d'Essai" -
A young artist who joins us for single projects, discussions and art-related exchange.

Nadine Kolodziey (1988 GER) is a Berlin/ Offenbach based designer and illustrator. She studies visual communication at Hochschule für Gestaltung in Offenbach am Main. Together with Eike König and the ASC team, she formed the graphic design festival After School Club. With Poste Aérienne, she's first present in our new silkscreen leporello "Why Are We Sleeping?".

From 9.-13. October Poste Aerienne will be once more part of the International Frankfurt Book Fair. For the (magical) seventh time! Besides our small press publications, fine books and prints we are especially happy to present:

- A brandnew silkscreen accordion book titled "Why Are We Sleeping?"
- The reprint of "Seven Reasons Not To Travel" - our first silkscreen book – in fresh new colors
- A new card-collection dedicated to some of the scariest creatures that ever walked on earth

As guest artist the talented Antje Herzog will be back with us.

See you at our booth at hall 4.1, Q12

PS. Our this year Book-Fair-Flyer was designed by C.Pom

First Pencil drawings for a new and real thrilling bookproject about the time of Westafrican civil wars and their effects on people, life and society. An exciting cooperation with international artists, photographer and writers.

More new material coming soon!

Our new printed Silkscreen Accordian Book has the wonderful theme SLEEP, that reminds me to a unique book of mine, I presented at Frankfurt several years ago. In about two weeks POSTE AÉRIENNE will be present at the Frankfurt Book Fair for the seventh year.
